Our beautiful, new school feels like a High School Musical movie set. Spirit and enthusiasm for the 2018-2019 school year are at an all-time high for the students and teachers at Ladue Horton Watkins high school. As if nothing could get better between the new coffee shop, greenhouse, and teleconference room, there is a realization that something is missing.

What was once an aging plot of grass with a track and bleachers, the football stadium is a visibly absent piece of a wonderful transformation of LHWHS. Not only will the final component of the construction be a much-anticipated turf field, but also an athletic stadium adorned with a “track, field, digital scoreboard, grandstands with viewing platforms, a grand entry and a plaza,” Athletic Director Nick Gianino said. He is passionate about the future of the complex as he believes it will correspond with the “state of the art” renovations within the school itself.

The stadium is truly revolutionary. “Many didn’t believe that lights in Ladue [were] possible, but we found a way to get it done for our school and community,” said Gianino.

After work within the City of Ladue for approval of light towers, LHWHS will now all be able to enjoy Friday night lights as we cheer for our Rams.

The project will reach completion by March 2019, however much of the work should be finished by the end of November. To commemorate the end of the construction, Principal Brad Griffith says either the girls’ lacrosse or the girls’ soccer team will play a game next Spring for the first official Friday Night Lights. The complex itself will showcase, “School pride, community pride, Friday night football and most importantly, a facility capable of hosting events that showcase the talents of our student-participants,” said Gianino.
