Summer Activity Descriptions
Apogee Adventures/Rustic Pathways: Travel the world with other high school students. Not only will you have the opportunity to volunteer, but you can experience another culture.
County Library: Spend a few hours this summer reading at the St. Louis County Library. Shelve books, work the teen section’s table and rack up some volunteer hours!

Interlochen: Immerse yourself in the fine arts this summer at Interlochen summer camp. This camp provides opportunities for musicians, actors and singers alike. Visit their website for more information.
Media Now: Attend this four day summer journalism camp to sharpen your writing skills.
Missouri Baptist: If you’re interested in going into the medical field, volunteering at the hospital would be a great opportunity for you to experience the profession. Volunteers must log a total of 50 hours of service over the summer.
Shaw Institute for Field Training: This program is great for environmentalists. You enhance your basic scientific skills while also exploring Shaw Nature Reserve. After a week of training you can sign up for projects and get paid for it.
Students and Teachers as Research Scientists: This program gives you to chance work in a lab at St. Louis University, Washington University or University Missouri St. Louis. You work along with real researchers on projects in fields ranging from all the sciences. This six-week summer program requires an application, so check out the link for more details.
Temple Israel: If you enjoy working with kids, apply to be a camp counselor. The camp is eight weeks but you can choose which weeks and times you would like to work. Contact Leslie Wolf [email protected] for more information.
Variety Camp for Kids: Each week you will work with kids with physical and mental disabilities. Students must be especially responsible and caring. Click on the link for more information about the organization.
Washington University/ St. Louis University Summer Institutes: Get a taste of college life by taking classes at the universities. You can earn college credits and also explore the campuses.
Zoo: Volunteer at the zoo throughout the year and help out with camp Kangazoo. This requires a lengthy application so get started soon!
